Capital Gear Launches New State-of-the-Art Transmission Dynamometer

Capital Gear Introduces State-of-the-Art Transmission Dynamometer

Capital Gear has expanded its drivetrain testing capabilities with the addition of a new state-of-the-art transmission dynamometer designed specifically for Paccar and Cummins Eaton Endurant model transmissions. The new system is now fully operational and already delivering measurable improvements in testing accuracy and reliability.

The dynamometer allows technicians to simulate real-world operating conditions before the transmission ever reaches a vehicle. By replicating the stresses and functionality of a complete power unit installation, Capital Gear can validate the performance of each transmission prior to shipment.

This new capability ensures that complete UN-MODIFIED transmissions can be installed on the dynamometer and calibrated in the same manner as they would be installed in a truck.

Simulating Real-World Transmission Performance

Transmission testing traditionally occurs only after installation in a vehicle. With Capital Gear’s new dynamometer system, transmissions can now be thoroughly evaluated in a controlled environment before they ever leave the facility.

The system is designed to simulate the full functionality of Eaton Endurant model transmissions, allowing technicians to confirm proper operation across a wide range of conditions.

This testing process significantly reduces the risk of post-installation issues and ensures that each unit performs exactly as expected.

Key Test Functions

The new dynamometer enables Capital Gear technicians to perform detailed functional testing, including:

  • Checking for smooth shifting between all gears under full load, half load, and no load conditions
  • Verifying communication between the transmission control system and the MTM unit
  • Confirming that electronic and mechanical components operate correctly under simulated operating conditions

These tests allow the team to identify potential issues before shipment and confirm that each unit meets strict performance standards.

Eliminating Installation Surprises

One of the most common frustrations in drivetrain service is discovering a faulty transmission only after installation. Capital Gear’s dynamometer testing process addresses this issue directly.

By testing complete units before they leave the facility, installers and fleet operators gain confidence that the transmission will perform properly once installed. The result is fewer unexpected problems, reduced downtime, and greater operational reliability.

Dynamometer Tested Units Ready to Ship

Every transmission that passes through Capital Gear’s dynamometer testing process is verified and prepared for installation. Once testing is complete, units are approved for shipment with confidence that they will perform as intended in the field.

With this new capability in place, Capital Gear continues to strengthen its position as a trusted drivetrain specialist—delivering thoroughly tested, high-quality transmission solutions to customers across the industry.
